What's Done is Dunn: Q&A With Tommy Dunn: Undisputed Champion of Pranks

Thursday 1st Feb 2024

7pm - Late

‘If anyone in Manchester has a story worth telling it’s Tommy Dunn, whose lived it to the full and still here to tell the tale.’ – Ian Brown

‘The best performance artist of his generation’ – Damien Hirst

‘You’d think a man of his age would have something better to do.’Noel Gallagher

In 2002, serial prankster Tommy Dunn was the subject of a CH4 documentary called ‘Britain’s Favourite Hoaxer’ with his then stunt accomplice Karl ‘Fat Neck’ Power.  A comedy classic that plays out with all the tensions of a thriller, it reignited the dying art form that was the great British prank.

Running rings around the authorities with heist-like planning, when Tommy started plotting these audacious acts and then later obsessively filming them over 25 years ago, little did he know that he was at the forefront of a visual revolution.

Now a folk hero for a generation of YouTube and TikTok hoaxers and pranksters, join us as he takes us on a journey through his vast personal archive of footage.

It’s all here: from the infamous Man Utd-Munich stunt in 2001 to last years ‘BBC sex noise’ prank with an imprisoned dog at Crufts in between. And more. So much more.

Catch him if you can.

Q&A will be followed by karaoke.
